How Tankless Water Heaters Work

Once the hot water tap is turned on, cold water enters the tankless heater through an inlet pipe at the bottom of the unit. The flow sensor activates the burner, which in turn warms the heat exchanger. The cold water is heated as it passes through the coils and then exits the system through the hot water outlet to travel throughout your home. When you turn off the hot water tap, cold water stops entering the system and the flow sensor shuts off the burner.

Is a hot water on-demand tankless water heater right for you?

Take the time to consider what size or capacity your home needs as well as what fuel type you’ll be using, such as gas, electric, or propane. You’ll also need to look at how much you’re willing to spend on a new hot water system. Keep in mind that tankless water heaters tend to cost more upfront, but make up for it over time since they last longer and are much more energy-efficient. Our certified technicians can walk you through the benefits and limitations of each fuel type to help you make the best decision for your household needs. Call us today at 780-489-8118.
